Shopping in the big brands is the same all over the world but Shopping between caruggi and squares is a unique and unrepeatable experience.
In the historic center of Genoa there are numerous ancient stores that have been active for many years.
These shops are located in ancient buildings, inserted in the historic center, with architecture, furnishings, equipment and period documents, which testify to activities that are at least 70 years old, but in many cases up to 200 !!!
To preserve this enormous heritage, a "Register of Historic Shops" has been established, which includes those establishments that have been in operation for at least 70 years and that meet a whole series of requirements imposed by the Superintendency for Architectural Heritage: the preservation of elements architectural, furnishings, equipment or historical instruments still functional to the activity carried out, the documentation preserved with respect to the history of the year, the environmental context.
