In Verezzi the hands of the clocks go back half a century.
After passing the hairpin bends that take you away from the sea and the liveliness of the center of Borgio, you will enter a silent village, where no cars pass through the stone-paved streets.
It seems carved into the rock with its creuze, old mule tracks that brought carts to the sea from the surrounding valleys.
In the square of S. Agostino overlooking the sea, an event of great attraction for all of Liguria and beyond has taken place since 1967: the Borgio Verezzi Theater Festival. On stage are the national premieres that will tour the largest Italian theaters once autumn arrives.
The houses stand out above all for their terraced roofs, with a medieval urban structure but with clear Arab influence.
On the terraces overlooking the gulf there are many small restaurants, from the simplest to the most elegant, where you can taste the flavors of the local cuisine.
A typical dish is Verezzina-style snails prepared with a long procedure which enhances their flavour. A typical local product is the caper.
